I will love a certain kind of story until I die, and it goes like this: a first-person narrator in whatever stage of life looking back on their late teens or early 20s. I've been wondering why, and I think it's because: we all do that. When people say they like a story because it's "relatable," maybe it's not because the characters like music like the reader does or because they had their heart broken in similiar way, but because we all do just that: look back and tease, endlessly tease it out, this way and that. It's a thrilling business, and often sad. And it's in our DNA.

(Above sparked by reading 40 pages of Lorrie Moore's Who Will Run the Frog Hospital?)
