One of the great pleasures of writing is following the initial burst of energy that gets you to the blank page in the first place. What I'm saying is that, several years ago, at the after-party for a fairly famous American rock band, I flicked a lighter for the band's singer so that he could see, in the darkened men's room, where he was pissing.
