Novels will never die because of novels like Edward P. Jones' The Known World. I'm only 15 pages in but it's a sure thing because reading it feels like being held by enormous, kind, intelligent hands. The kind of hands that point in the direction you should be walking before you knew you were supposed to be walking at all.
